      A great tradition continued this morning as members of Local 1747 helped to deliver over 4,000 toys, along with stocking stuffers and stuffed animals, as part of Toys for Joy, a joint effort between the Kent RFA, Local 1747, the Kent Firefighters Foundation and our community.  The toys are delivered to close to 2,000 children who otherwise might not have such a merry Christmas.

      ?The September 11th Never Forget Blood Drive was a big hit this year with the big flag draped over St#14, and we set a new record!  ? The Madison Fire Department, Madison Police Department, and American Red Cross teamed up once again to host the September 11 “Never Forget” Blood Drive.

      At 3:21 a.m. on September 11th, an observant neighbor called 911 after they noticed smoke and an orange glow coming from a home on Astoria Court in Lone Tree. When members arrived, they encountered heavy smoke in the area and confirmed that an enclosed deck attached to the home was burning.

Granton passed unexpectedly in his home on Friday September 6th, 2019 at 37 years old.  Jesse joined the Norwalk Fire Department in 2011, and was promoted to the position of Fire Inspector in 2018.  During hes tenure, Br.

      30 years ago on September 10, 1989, Captain John Hager died in the line of duty while battling a building fire at 5119 S. Yosemite St. in Greenwood Village. Today Captain Hager's family and friends joined South Metro Fire Rescue for a remembrance ceremony at the SMFR Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

      Sunday, September 8, 2019: Ct. United Ride Fred Garrity, Dir., Ct. United Ride recognized and presented a plaque to Captain Anthony Duff from the Ct. United Ride and Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut. While off-duty Captain Duff witnessed two suspects were in a shootout, Captain Duff was wounded when he intervened to stop the suspects.

         Local 21 regrets to announce the passing of Retired FEO Kenneth Brisbois.  FEO Brisbois passed away on Monday September 2, 2019.  FEO Brisbois started with the Saint Paul Fire Department on April 20, 1968 and retired on December 24, 1993.  Private family services will be held at a later date.

      At 7:12 p.m. on Monay September 2nd, residents at an apartment complex in the 9000 block of S. Yosemite Street in Lone Tree called 911 to report flames and visible smoke coming out of an apartment unit. Quick actions by neighbors with fire extinguishers helped put this fire out and allowed for residents to evacuate with their pets.

      At 2:53 p.m. on Labor Day, Local members responded to the first of three residential fires. Multiple 911 callers reported a garage fire in the 3800 block of East Long Place in Centennial. While members were responding a plume of black smoke was already visible from miles away.

      At 11:24 a.m., South Metro reserve Ladder 12 was involved in a non injury motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Broadway and County Line Rd. At the time, Ladder 12’s crew was responding to a rollover car crash that sent multiple people to the hospital with minor injuries in Highlands Ranch.
